Host Kim Ketola discusses her own experience and how the mindset of the average young adults who experience abortion is one of ignorance and indifference There is seldom a weighed and measured moral response to a problem pregnancy; abortion is offered as practical and pragmatic problem solving.
So, how can we know abortion is wrong based on biblical truth?
Although we can’t point to a verse addressing our modern practice of elective abortion, there are several ways of knowing.
- Exodus 20:13 says, “Thou shall not kill.” Embryology affirms human life is present from conception forward, therefore terminating that life is killing.
- To deny the humanity of prenatal human beings is the fruit of spiritual confusion and doubt. See Genesis 2-3:16.
- The Bible is not silent; and silence does not equal consent
- Uncertainty demands caution; if a life could be at stake, we must take measures to protect and not destroy.
- Deuteronomy 30:11-20 – we are hardwired to choose life
- Leviticus 17:11 – life is in the blood, and every abortion sheds innocent blood.
The Bible is clear. Abortion violates God’s prohibition of shedding innocent blood. And once we know abortion is a sin, we can prepare our hearts to repent and find forgiveness through confession and the cleansing love of Jesus Christ (see 1 John 1: 8-9).
