Georgette Forney is President of Anglicans for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. As such, she helps people impacted by abortion, especially resolving the grief attached to the loss abortion creates.
Sharing her personal story, Georgette encourages repenting abortion as a means to break through the denial that drives women to abort our children. We deny the humanity of our children before the abortion, and we deny the guilt and shame in the aftermath. There is a better way. Grieving reproductive loss frees us and restores us to right relationship with God, ourselves and others.
Her powerful and touching story provides a template for pastors and church leaders to welcome women and men to repentance and restoration, and provides resources to support them in the journey, including abortionforgiveness.com.
Silent No More Awareness also sponsors the Shockwaves outreach, with resources for the many, many others who may need to repent: siblings, grandparents, friends, bystanders, and yes, the church.
Resources specific to churches are listed here. Georgette also provides simple and elegant ways to speak about abortion from the pulpit and within the church, and why it is vital that pastors and leaders do so.
From her bio: Georgette Forney is President of Anglicans for Life, and the co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, an effort to raise awareness about the physical, spiritual and emotional harm abortion does to women and to let those who are hurting from abortion know help is available. Since officially launching the Campaign in 2003, thousands have shared their testimonies of the truth about abortion’s negative after-affects.
Georgette had an abortion at age sixteen and later experienced healing, forgiveness and reconciliation after going through an abortion recovery program. Through that she developed a greater understanding of the negative impact abortion has on women and the need to highlight the issue as an abortion survivor. Georgette lives in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, with her husband and daughter.
