Guest Walter Hoye’s message to pastors on abortion

Walter Hoye is Founder of Issues 4 Life.

He teaches a biblical path for pastors and church leaders to address abortion in the church.

Hoye says, “The word “pastor” comes from the word “shepherd.” [Pastors] are to make sure all of the sheep get what they need spiritually from the Chief Shepherd by way of His Word.”

The top 3 barriers pastors face when it comes to abortion:

  1. Unconfessed sin–many touched personally by abortion
  2. Choosing treasure over the truth and replacing the mission with the money.
  3. Lacking information about the nature of the problem of abortion, and being willing to admit they have been wrong.

Pastors must address and overcome these barriers in order to become effective messengers. Hoye says, “Pastor’s job is a specific path to communicate God’s will and God’s way from God’s Word. When we do that it won’t matter what your politics are, it will matter what God says in His Word.”

Hoye’s personal story is a touching testament to the value of the smallest and youngest members of the human family. He shares, “I held my micro-preemie son in the palm of my hand who was under 2 pounds at 22 weeks. I looked at him as if it were to be the last time. God made it plain to me what abortion is and what abortion does. When it became clear, I knew I had to be there to rescue those children.”

Hoye held a sign outside an Oakland abortion business which simply said, “God loves you and your baby. Let us help you.” He shares how his arrest for that peaceful display changed his life.
